In Italian, Montanari, refers to people from the mountains. Montanari - Italian Mountain Life, shares stories and activities about exploring life in and around the mountains of Italy.
There is a vast amount of information online on the Italian mountains, including its history, culture and many spots to read about where to go with trail descriptions. However the majority of it is in Italian and even that requires lots of searching to get quality information on where to go, especially if following a trail on foot, bike, skis, or snowshoes. Where possible we have included at the bottom of posts, links in English for more information.
Montanari was founded by Kristina Tool, a former resident of Breckenridge, Colorado ( a mountain paradise) and now lives in Milan, Italy where she can see the Alps when the pollution is not too bad. Kristina gets up to the mountains as much as possible.
If you have something you would like to share on Montanari: a great image, a suggestions for a favorite trail or town, a review of clothing or equipment you have used in the mountains, drop us a line below . (Anche si può scrivere in italiano, e se lo pubblichiamo, facciamo la traduzione!)
